Andy Murray is looking increasingly impressive at Wimbledon and he heads into the third round this Saturday to play Andreas Seppi.

Murray smashed Robin Haase to win 6-1 6-1 6-4 in just under 90 minutes on Thursday and looks set to do the same to Seppi in their tie on Saturday.

The Scot impressed with the calmness of his play against Haase combined with the power which he threw behind his ground strokes. When he gets in the zone, as he clearly did against Haase, he becomes virtually unbeatable.

The world number 3 dominated in his game, taking just 20 minutes over the first set, breaking six times and winning 85 of the 136 points on offer.

Ever the perfectionist, Murray is likely to be working on his game to fine-tune it before taking on Seppi, who he has beaten in six out of seven meetings.

Andreas Seppi displayed plenty of talent when he took on Croatian Borna Coric to win his place in the third round. If he continues to play with such grit he’ll certainly put up a good challenge for Murray. However, it’s to be seen whether the 25th has the self-belief and confidence to play at his potential.

Seppi’s victory over Coric was a hard fought five-setter in which he came back from two sets to one to win the match.

Seppi spoke after the match, commenting, “It’s going to be a tough match against Andy. I have lost the last few matches against him but I have nothing to lose so I’m going to give it my best. But his game is for sure better than mine.”

Seppi’s single victory over Murray came nine years ago at Nottingham. The last time he bet the Scot, on clay in the Davis Cup last year, Murray was victorious in straight sets.
