Welsh footballer Gareth Bale left Spurs last September to play for Real Madrid for a reported record-breaking transfer fee of £85.3 million (€100 million). Nearly nine months on, we consider if he was really worth the big bucks.

In the short time that Gareth Bale has been playing for Real Madrid he’s already proved he might well be worth the money that was paid for him. The Champion’s League final clash alone shows that the lad from Cardiff is a football superstar, scoring the second goal for Real Madrid in extra time and helping to secure the 4-1 victory against Atletico Madrid.

At the end of Bale’s first season in Spain for Real Madrid, he’s racked up an impressive 22 goals and 17 assists across all competitions.
