Man City v Tottenham Betting

The Premier League recommences following the international break with second-place Manchester City facing Tottenham Hotspurs at home in what could be a closely fought match. I’ve taken a look how the teams are shaping up before Saturday’s clash to give you the best betting tips ahead of the game.

Form

Both teams had several players on international duty during the International break and are hoping that they’ll return to their respective Clubs unscathed. Man City are already without Eliaquim Mangala, Fernandinho and Samir Nasri while Tottenham have a more extensive list of injured players including, Nacer Chadli, Hugo Lloris, Kyle Naughton and Kyle Walker.

Tottenham anxiously await news on the fitness of Lloris and Chadli. The pair have been Spurs’ most influential players this season so far with Lloris performing at a very high level and Chadli the club’s top scorer with 4 goals in 7 games (this also makes him the seventh highest goal scorer in the league this year.)

If Chadli is deemed unfit for the game then it’ll be Andros Townsend who will replace him in the starting line-up. Townsend is on a roll at the moment having scored for England in their 5-0 victory over San Marino last week and will hope to carry that sort of scoring form over into the Premier League.

City, currently sitting at second on the log, 5 points below Chelsea, will need to win this game if they don’t want Chelsea to extend their lead over in the League.

David Silva believes Manchester City still have a chance of reclaiming top spot and retaining the title.

“Chelsea have made great transfers, they have a great team, a great squad,” he commented this week. “But it doesn’t mean things are going to be easy for them, especially in England.”

Man City v Tottenham Betting Tips

And so onto my betting tips for the game. Last season Spurs conceded a humiliating 11 goals to Manchester City over their two Premier League Clashes, losing 5-1 at home and 6-0 away.

With the fitness of several of their key players currently uncertain, Tottenham don’t appear to have the resilience to keep a strong City side at bay. Betway are offering the best odds on a City win at 9/20.

For bigger returns than you’ll get from the straight win I’ll be putting my money on Chadli returning to net one for Spurs (7/2 at Paddy Power) and City to win overall with a 3-1 score line at full time (10/1 at Paddy Power).
