Brazil World Cup 2014: The Final

Jake Cooper | 12 Oct 2016

Just one day left to go and here at we’re overcome with excitement for the World Cup final. Speaking to our inside sources, it’s really going to be a close match, with little consensus on what the outcome could possibly be. So, are you team Germany or team Argentina?

Lionel Messi

Argentina’s not-so-secret weapon Lionel Messi has taken a bit of a back seat in the last couple of games, despite a promising start in the competition. If Argentina are to be successful in their World Cup campaign they’ll need Messi on top form. Germany are no doubt aware of the fact that Messi has not gone more than three matches for Argentina in almost three years without scoring.

Lionel Messi Odds from Paddy Power:

Messi to score anytime 6/4

Messi to score and Argentina to win 7/2

Messi to score first 9/2

Messi to score two or more 7/1

Messi to score a hat trick 25/1

Germany’s World Cup Campaign

Despite the fact that Argentina probably has more star players, Germany look a little more solid as a team. Their cold and no-nonsense approach to this World Cup has seen them score more goals than any other team so far this year. Plus, considering their last game in this year’s tournament saw them score an incredible seven goals against Brazil, the boys will no doubt be feeling incredibly confident right now.

William Hill is pricing Germany at 7/5 (2.40) to win the World Cup.

Our Verdict

It might be a close one, but our money has to be on Germany to win in what is expected to be one hell of a World Cup final.
