Liverpool travel to Chelsea this Sunday with hopes of moving one step closer to a top four finish.

Chelsea secured the title, beating Crystal Palace 1-0 at Stamford Bridge last weekend, and are eager to finish strongly in the final three games of the season – which see the Blues take on Liverpool, West Brom and Sunderland.

Chelsea have lost only two games in the Premier League so far this season, with both losses coming away from home.

Liverpool need the points to keep their slim hopes of a top four finish alive, but Chelsea manager Mourinho will not accept a drop in the standard.

“I feel already the responsibility” he admitted. “I know in this moment we can breathe and the players had a few days off.

“But we have to come back and be professional until the end of the season, for three more matches. We must be able to do it.

“But we are the champions now and we are very proud to get the crown from Manchester City’s hands because they are a fabulous team. But now we have this extra responsibility because we are the English Champions.”

Liverpool can still secure Champions League football by winning their last three games. Manchester United’s shock defeat to West Brom last Saturday left them just four points ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool with only three games left to play.

Brendan Rodgers’ team end the season with games against Crystal Palace and Hull, but their first port of call is Stamford Bridge in Super Sunday’s clash where they take on the title winners.

“Chelsea deserve to be champions,” midfielder Adam Lallana said. “The table doesn’t lie. They have been the best team throughout the season. You have to respect that.

“All I know is we want to go there and spoil the party. We’re looking to go there and cause an upset and put a dent in their celebrations.

“We can still finish in the top four but we need to take maximum points now. We’ll keep fighting right to the end. We all know what can happen.”

Despite the rivalry that exists between the two clubs, Rodgers confirms that the Reds will applaud the Londoners on to the field at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

When asked if Liverpool would give Mourinho’s men a guard of honour, Rodgers said: “Absolutely. This club is based on dignity and respect and class.

“Whoever is the champions, that’s what you do.”

Chelsea may not have much to play for but they will want to finish the season off in style. They are the best team in the league and Liverpool have really struggled as of late with only one point in their last three road matches.
