Chelsea will be confident heading into their Premier League clash with QPR on Saturday as both Diego Costa and Ramires are due to make a return from injury.
Costa was ruled out for the Blues’ previous four games but will be fit to return for the west London derby alongside Ramires whose absence in midfield left Chelsea without a key tactical weapon.
Despite two of their top players being out of action, Chelsea have remained unbeaten this season and Jose Mourinho is understandably thrilled that his side’s injury problems are gradually easing.
“Without any further complications, Diego Costa and Ramires will be fit to face QPR at the weekend,” confirmed Mourinho.
In Chelsea’s midweek League Cup game away to Shrewsbury Didier Drogba scored the first goal for the visitors but the Blues looked a little tense after Andy Mangan equalised for the home side.
Luckily for Chelsea Jermaine Grandison scored an own goal late in the game which was enough to knock the League 2 side out of the competition.
QPR’s season finally started to show signs of improving with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa last weekend which helped them off the bottom of the table.
The Hoops’ Adel Taarabt is certain that they can cause an upset when they come up against Chelsea, just as they did the last time they visited Stamford Bridge. In that meeting Shaun Wright-Phillips struck gold in the last minutes of the game to snatch a 1-0 victory for the visitors.
“The last time we played there in the Premier League we won at Chelsea,” said Taarabt. “If we can go in 0-0 at half time, and maybe even 70 minutes you can win, but not after five (if we concede).”
It is uncertain whether Adel Taarabt will feature in Saturday’s game. He hit the headlines last week after boss Harry Redknapp complained about the striker’s lack of commitment to training, labelling Taarabt overweight.
Steven Caulker is likely to feature for QPR having redeemed himself from his own goal two weeks ago by keeping Villa’s Christian Benteke from scoring at the weekend.
The defender commented on playing tough sides like Chelsea, “They don’t get any easier but those are the sort of games where you can frustrate teams.”
Chelsea vs QPR Betting Tips
It doesn’t seem likely that QPR will be the team to upset Chelsea’s unbeaten season, so it’d be wise to back a Chelsea victory.
Betway has a 3-1 Chelsea win at 35/4 which looks attractive in the Correct Score market or, for a safer bet, you could bet on Chelsea to win and both teams to score, priced at 15/8 on Paddy Power.
Diego Costa will be looking to make an impact on his return and looks good for two goals at 2/1 with Sky Bet.
