Bolivia may be the underdogs remaining in the competition but they may have a favourable draw in the quarterfinals facing Peru on Friday.

La Verde had not won a single Copa America match since 1997 before this year’s competition but this year managed to scrape through in second place in Group A. 0-0 draw to Mexico, Mauricio Soria’s team beat Ecuador 3-2 before revealing their weaknesses as they lost 5-0 to Chile in Santiago.

To have reached this stage in the competition is a confidence boost for the team but they are favourites to return home after Friday’s clash.

Peru may not be the most formidable opponents for Bolivia but they’ve performed well to reach the quarterfinals and displayed impressive form to finish second in a group containing both Brazil and Colombia.

Peru reach this stage by drawing 0-0 with Colombia and beating Venezuela 1-0 after losing 2-1 to Brazil in their opening game.

Despite a tough group in this year’s competition, Peru are no strangers to the quarterfinals of the Copa, having reached at least this stage of the tournament in seven out of their last eight attempts. Four years ago they made their biggest impact to date, advancing to the semi-finals, however they lost to tournament winners Uruguay. They did, however, seal third place with a 4-1 win over Venezuela in the play-off.

Paolo Guerrero was a big factor in the 2011 success for Peru but the former Bayern Munich striker has yet to find the net this time around. Despite this he is expected to keep his place in the starting eleven.

Pizarro will join Guerrero in attack which will mean that Schalke winger Jefferson will once again start on the bench.

Bolivia coach Soria made several changes to his side ahead of the dire loss to Chile, so it looks like he may revert back to a more successful starting line-up. If this is the case then Miguel Hurtado, Edward Zenteno, Danny Bejarano and Damian Lizio may all be in line for recalls.

Copa America: Bolivia vs Peru Betting Tips

Although Bolivia have shown glimmers of promise in this year’s competition it looks unlikely that they’ll be able to overpower Peru in the quarterfinals.

We’re tipping Peru to win with Claudio Pizarro to score in 90 minutes at 4/1 with Sky Bet.
