Crystal Palace vs Chelsea Betting Preview

Crystal Palace host Chelsea at Selhurst Park on Saturday and will be hoping for a repeat of the last time the two sides met which they beat the Blues 1-0.

Crystal Palace currently sit at fifteenth in the league with just 9 points compared to Chelsea’s 19 at the top of the table. Although Chelsea are the clear favourites for this weekend’s meeting, Crystal Palace will be looking to cause an upset by ending their unbeaten campaign.

Chelsea might well be heading into the game at a disadvantage with Eden Hazard still uncertain due to an ankle injury and keeper Thibaut Courtois (concussion), Didier Drogba (ankle) and Ramiers (groin) all unfit to play.

Despite Jose Mourinho’s concerns for Diego Costa’s hamstring complaints, the newly-signed forward has returned from international duty seemingly unscathed and looks set to start at the weekend.

Palace are currently without defender Adrian Mariappa although there’s a good chance he’ll have fully recovered by Saturday.

Fullback Joel Ward believes that Crystal Palace can deliver another shock win over Chelsea this weekend. The defender was a key player in the victory against Chelsea back in March, delivering the cross that John Terry headed into his own goal.

“I can’t wait to play the big teams and big names but every team has got good players and that’s why it’s the best league in the world,” he said.

“Last year we proved the type of team we are and the squad that we’ve got. There’s a belief of going out there and the attitude that we all bring and the expectations that we demand of each other, there’s no reason why we should fear any team.”

Palace come into Saturday’s game hoping to bounce back from a 2-0 loss to Hull City which ended the side’s four-match unbeaten record. The return of manager Neil Warnock has seen the side pull together and refocus after a slow start to the season.
