Only one game stands between Sevilla and a record breaking fourth Europa League title, but Dnipro will put up a fight in Warsaw on Wednesday.
The Spanish outfit hope to make history when they face Dnipro this week in the final of the second tier European competition.
Unai Emery led his men to victory over Benfica in last year’s final at Juventus stadium and the Sevilla boss has urged his side to show no fear as they look to make it two years running.
Although Juventus, Internazionale and Liverpool are all equal with Sevilla on holding three Europa League titles, Sevilla hope to write their names in the record books as the first club to claim a fourth trophy.
“We can’t deny that we have the chance to write history,” Emery commented. “Of course we are grateful to have that chance, to be able to pursue this.
“We are aiming to achieve something with this team, with Sevilla. It shouldn’t feel like pressure or stop us from executing our game plan against Dnipro. It will serve more as motivation, like a dream we can achieve.”
This year, for the first time, there’s an extra incentive for the winning side as they will automatically earn a spot in next season’s Champions League.
Sevilla narrowly missed out on qualifying for the top tier European competition via La Liga after finishing the season in fifth place, just one point below Valencia.
“The fact that the winners now qualify directly for the Champions League has made it grow even more,” added Emery. “Teams have attached more importance to this competition.
“Dnipro have been the revelation of this year’s Europa League because they’ve knocked out some top teams on the way. Teams that are historically much bigger than them.
“If they knocked out Olympiakos, Ajax, Club Brugge and Napoli – who were favourites after eliminating Wolfsburg – and reached the final, it’s because they deserved it,”
Dnipro have been a real surprise, causing upsets throughout this year’s Europa League contest. This will be the side’s first Uefa final in the club’s history and Myron Markevych’s men have shown they’re capable of a solid giant killing, knocking out Napoli in the semi-finals.
Dnipro will also be boosted by a confidence-boosting 3-2 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in their domestic league, taking them to within two points of second place with one game to go in the season.
Dnipro head into Wednesday’s clash without Serhiy Kravchenko and Roman Zozulya, while Dani Parejo is a doubt for Sevilla.

Sevilla might be the bookies’ favourite in this final but we’re tipping Dnipro to cause another upset. With a taste for giant killing, the Ukrainian side look set to face their opponents head on and steal a victory.
We’re predicting a close game with a Dnipro win in extra time, at 20/1 with Paddy Power.
