The East Is Heating Up As The Hornets Take On The Nets
The Brooklyn Nets will visit the Spectrum Centre to take on the Charlotte Hornets on March the 9th in what promises to be an alluring Eastern Conference battle. These two teams have played each other only once so far, this regular season, with the Hornets coming away 111-95 winners on the night.
The Hornets are entering this game with an overall season record of 32 wins and 33 losses, showing inconsistencies in their team and tactics throughout the 2021-22 season. The Nets are not much different in terms of their season record, boasting 32 wins and 32 losses. The two teams have had very similar seasons filled with ups and downs throughout, making this game an enticing prospect.
Nets – Better Than You Think
Looking purely at the Brooklyn Nets’ record this season does not suggest that they are an elite NBA team. The record shouts inconsistency, no belief in being real contenders, and perhaps broken confidence. However, the Brooklyn Nets are better than this record suggests. The Nets picked up an impressive win over the current NBA champions, the Milwaukee Bucks, recently before losing 3 back-to-back games.
One of the biggest issues in Brooklyn is getting the team selection right. They have legendary players on their roster yet still no one knows when all three of Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and Ben Simmons will take the court together and prove their quality.
Hornets Are a Mixed Bag
The biggest problem with the Charlotte Hornets is the fact that nobody can predict what type of basketball they are going to play on the night and whether they’re capable of picking up a good run of wins. Their record attests to this fact. One of the most outrageous stats held by the Hornets this season is the fact that they lead the league in scoring yet still have a negative points differential. They have the third-worst defence in the NBA – this is clearly their weakest attribute.
LaMelo Ball looks like a superstar, and this is proven by the scoring record of the Hornets. He can single-handedly dictate and win games for his team, but consistency is a factor he must start improving, then he’ll truly be one of the best players in the NBA.
Overall, this game seems impossible to predict. The Hornets come into the matchup in slightly better form than the Nets, yet as has been explained, this does not mean much in terms of the consistency of the teams.
