Andy Murray hopes to continue his fine play as he steps on to Centre Court for an intriguing showdown with Ivo Karlovic on Monday.

Murray took four sets to defeat Italy’s Andreas Seppi on Saturday to secure his place in the fourth round. The world number three had a shoulder problem in the game which was tended to in the middle of the game and from where he came back to win the fourth set with ease.

The 2013 Wimbledon champion struck 32 winners and 10 aces as he set himself up for the showdown with Croatian Ivo Karlovic, who stands a towering 6ft 11in tall, and tops the aces leader board with 136 at the tournament so far.

Andy Murray admits that he is wary of the threat from his big-serving opponent ahead of the match on Monday.

“It’s mainly just the fact that he can hit so many of the angles on the court,” he said.

“You can’t just pat the return back into play, you need to try to do something with it, so it is tough.”

36–year-old Ivo Karlovic is the oldest man to reach the last 16 at Wimbledon for 39 years. The 23rd seed beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, winning three sets via tie-breaks, to set up the clash with Murray.

He has won more points on his first serve than any other player in the opening three rounds and is optimistic about his chance against the Brit.

“I feel good. It will not be easy [against Murray] in the next round, but if I continue serving like this I will definitely have an opportunity,” the Croat said

“I know every game is different, so I always try to start serving well, and if it’s a lot of aces then things get easier.

“Each point is a new one, so I don’t feel like anyone can beat me.”

This marks the sixth time that these two cross paths on the professional tour, with Murray leading the series with an undefeated 5-0 record. This includes a previous win at the 2012 Wimbledon Championships, so Murray should still be the heavy favourite to come out victorious in their clash on Monday.
