Liverpool Bid For Balotelli

Liverpool are currently in talks with AC Milan over former Man City player Balotelli and it looks like the move is all but finalised.

Brendan Rodgers has been eyeing up the Italian striker to add some much-needed strength to his attacking line-up. Since Luis Suarez departed for Barcelona and with Rodgers’ ambitious attempts to secure Radamel Falcao unsuccessful, the manager now appears to have done a U-turn on the controversial 24-year-old.

Earlier in the week Liverpool attempted to sign Balotelli on loan from Milan, but with the striker’s reputation for off-pitch antics they had insisted on a ‘good behaviour’ clause. AC Milan refused and the deal fell through with Liverpool wary of signing yet another high maintenance player after their experience with Suarez.

It comes as a surprise that Liverpool are have re-entered talks for the Italian player following their earlier reluctance.

Balotelli was a hit with fans whilst playing at City, helping the club to win their first league title in over 40 years.

Despite his generally impressive performances on the pitch, Balotelli’s temper has caused difficulties throughout his career. Most notably his clashes with Mancini which prompted his departure to Milan. Balotelli joined AC Milan at the start of the 2013/2014 Serie A season and scored a solid 30 goals in his 54 games with the side.

The striker was linked with a move to Arsenal earlier this summer but Wenger ruled this out when he brought in Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona for £35 million.

It is currently thought that Liverpool are offering £16 million for Balotelli and that the move is a done deal, however no official confirmation has been given by either side.

If the deal goes ahead, Balotelli could be playing with Liverpool against his former Premier League side City this Monday.
