Liverpool have now lost four games in a row and will need to up their game if they’re to beat Ludogorets Razgrad in Bulgaria on Wednesday.
A loss for the Reds would ruin their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition as they’d fall to the bottom of Group B. Currently Ludogorets and Liverpool are on joint 3 points with 1 win and 3 losses each, but Liverpool is 1 ahead on goal difference.
Liverpool lost dramatically to Crystal Palace in the Premier League at the weekend as the Eagles came from behind to win 3-1. Brendan Rodgers has claimed responsibility for the loss but is calling upon his men to work harder.
“We go away bitterly disappointed with the results and the performance and we have to very quickly put it right,” he said, “because we’ve got a massive game now in the week.
“Every game now for us, right the way through a really busy schedule, is an important game. We have to be better. On Sunday we picked a team that we thought could win the game. They give me everything every day, but at this moment in time, we’re not good enough and we need to find answers very quickly.”
Liverpool scraped a 2-1 victory against Ludogorets at Anfield in their opening fixture but have lost three European games in a row since then so will be approaching the game with a lot of pressure riding on them.
Mario Balotelli scored in the first leg of this tie in September and could well be a critical part of the squad on Wednesday. The Italian striker was back at training this week after missing the trip to Selhurst Park and could be given the nod to start.
Rodgers is still without Daniel Sturridge, Suso and Jon Flanagan while Jose Enrique and Mamadou Sakho could be fit to return.
Ludogoret’s will be pushing for a victory against Liverpool at home before they have to face Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in their next clash. They’ll be boosted by the return of Yordan Minev, who scored their winning goal against Basel on match day three but missed the return leg through suspension.
Ludogorets Razgrad vs Liverpool Betting Tips
Liverpool are favourites to win on Wednesday but considering their form lately – both in Europe and domestically – it might be worth avoiding a bet on the outcome.
It was Mario Balotelli who scored against Ludogorets in the first leg of this tie and he looks good at 4/1 to find the net first on Wednesday (Betway).
