The Queen Mary Stakes sees several unbeaten fillies put their reputations on the line as they battle it out among a massive field of 23.
Established in 1921, the five furlong race has become one of the highlights of the Royal Ascot meeting and is targeted by trainers in the UK and Ireland with their two-year olds, looking to use it as a stepping stone to bigger and better things.
The shorter races are always very competitive and pose a real challenge to punters. Due to the age of the runners, it can be tricky to work out the race as many have yet to fulfil their potential and it’s not unusual for fillies to be given their racecourse debuts in this race.
The openness of the race also means long-odds outsiders can pay excellent dividends, as was the case in 2006 when Baddam won the race at 33-1 odds.
Besharah has won at Ascot and Windsor, while Easton Angel has won at Musselburgh and Beverley for Michael Dods. The duo have dominated the ante-post market in recent days and are set to break from stalls three and one respectively.

Wednesday’s Queen Mary Stakes race is bound to be a competitive affair and is extremely difficult to predict. However, we believe that William Haggas’s Besharah will hold on to her unbeaten record and win this race with odds of 9/2 with Betway.
