Southampton vs Stoke City | Saturday 25 October, 2014 | St Mary’s Stadium | Kick off 15.00

Stoke City head to St Mary’s this Saturday following a 2-1 victory against Swansea last time out while Southampton remain in third place having hammered Sunderland 8-0 at home. Check out my betting tips for everything you need to know ahead of the game.

Although many thought Southampton would struggle this season having sold some of their top players as well as undergoing a change in management, the Saints are going from strength to strength. They remain undefeated at home with 3 wins and 1 draw and have conceded just one goal at St Mary’s this season.

The Potters have allowed the least number of shots at their own goal this Premier League, so Ronald Koeman will be looking to add some solid force to his midfield to get the ball through.

Jack Cork started against Sunderland last weekend and scored one of Southampton’s 8 goals but he may be replaced on Saturday by Victor Wanyama, as Saints search for some extra power.

After their shock victory against Man City, Stoke had a slow start to the season but have won their last two home games and are seeing an improvement in their away form too.

There were some doubts over Victor Moses and Phil Bardsley after their game against Swansea last weekend, but both players look like they should be fit to return for Saturday’s clash after a short break from training and the rest of the field could well remain the same.

The biggest threat to Stoke will be Southampton’s star playmaker Granziano Pelle, who has now scored six goals in eight games.

The last four meetings between these two clubs have ended in draws, but Southampton’s impressive performance this season places them as firm favourites to win.

Granziano Pelle is your best bet score first at 7/2 at Paddy Power.

For bigger payouts, I’ll be betting on Southampton to win 2-0 which is priced at 21/4 at Betway.

With both sides presenting a stalwart defence the goal tally will be low. William Hill offers a Southampton victory with under 2.5 goals at 12/5.
