Tim Sherwood will be the centre of attention when he takes his Aston Villa side to White Hart Lane to face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Sherwood enjoyed a good six months in charge of the North London club and guided them to a sixth-place finish before his departure. Now he returns to White Hart lane for the first time with his current side in the midst of a battle to avoid the drop, with Villa three points above the bottom three.

Striker Christian Benteke’s hat-trick ensured a 3-3 draw against fellow strugglers QPR on Monday and moved them up to 16th on the Premier League table, but they are still only three points clear of the relegation zone and eager to keep picking up points.

“The game against QPR was our best performance of the season but we need to eradicate the stupid goals.” Sherwood said.

“We are hungry, fighting for our lives and we will go out in every game and try to win it.”

Despite only scoring nine away goals this season, Villa have actually won more games away from home than at Villa Park. They have however failed to win any of their last 3 games in the League and picked up just one point in that time.

Tottenham failed to keep up with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United in the race for the top four. Their draw to Burnley last weekend means that they are left in sixth place in the Premier League table, seven points behind Manchester City and the top four.

Spurs have only won one of their last three Premier League games. They have however won five of their six most recent games at White Hart Lane and will welcome Villa hoping to continue in that vein.

Spurs remain unsure about the fitness of Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker, while Villa will make do without Allan Hutton, Ashley Westwood and Scott Sinclair.

Both teams will create chances in this one, but the Spurs have won four in a row at White Hart Lane against Villa and should walk out winners on Saturday.
