Tottenham take on Brighton this Wednesday in the fourth round of the League Cup. I’ve taken a look at the latest team stats to give you my best betting tips ahead of the clash. Who is ready to beat the bookies?

Spurs found themselves booed off the pitch by their own supporters at the weekend after losing 1-2 against Newcastle and will be desperate to atone for that loss. Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor scored the only goal in the first half before Newcastle made an impressive comeback which began with Sammy Ameobi’s goal just six seconds after the restart.

Spurs Captain Younes Kaboul has urged his team to play with more conviction in Wednesday’s League Cup game against Brighton.

“We need to make our task easier on the pitch by trying to kill the game as early as we can,” he told the club’s website.

“We’ve no choice but to go forward now. When you get criticism you have to face it. Every single one of us has to look forward and fight for the team and the club and that’s what we are going to do.”

Question is, can they bounce back quickly? My gut feeling is that their loss to Newcastle will spur them into action on Wednesday.

Spurs will see defenders Kyle Naughton and Rederico Fazio return to action against Brighton, whilst Nabil Bentaleb and Kyle Walker remain side-lined.

Championship side Brighton have won just one game in their last 11 in all competitions so hardly look likely to pose much of a threat at White Hart Lane.

Sami Hyypia has had a tough time as manager since taking over earlier this year and his team currently sit just two points outside of the relegation zone following a 1-1 draw with Rotherham at the weekend.

Brighton will be without Craig Mackail-Smith due to a hamstring problem and Bruno Uvini who is suffering with a groin injury. They remain without long-term absentees Solly March, Dale Stephens and Andrew Crofts but winger Kazenga LuaLua will make his return to the squad having served a one-match ban.

Spurs are the overwhelming favourites to win at home to the lower-league side, but there are still some interesting bets to be had, so here are my picks for the game.

I’ll be putting my money on a strong Tottenham victory. Skybet has a Tottenham Win to Nil at 13/8.

It could also be worth picking the first goal scorers. The most attractive odds are with Betway which has Emmanuel Adebayor at 3/1 and Erik Lamela at 5/1.
