Wimbledon 2015 Draw

The Wimbledon draw has been made and he will begin his 2015 campaign against world number 58 Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan.

The Scot starts in the opposite half to top seed Novak Djokovic, who will take on German Phillip Kohlschreiber in his own first place.

Although Murray will only come up against Djokovic in the final, he could face Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals and Roger Federer in the semi-finals if he is to make it that far.

Murray, whose first match takes place on Tuesday, has won both of his previous meetings against Kukushkin, both of which took place on hard courts in 2012.

The world number 3 is in what some are calling the form of his life after winning a fourth Queen’s Club title just the other week.

Djokovic, who hasn’t competed in any competitive grass-court tennis this season, will come up against Stan Wawrinka in his half of the draw. The Swiss player beat the Serb in a shock result at the final of the French Open earlier this month.

Nadal, only seeded 10th in the competition, could pose a threat to some of his biggest rivals as he could well face them at early stages of the competition. Fellow Spaniard David Ferrer and Brit James Ward are both in line for a fourth round clash with Nadal if they make it that far in the contest.

In the women’s competition British number one heather Watson will play Caroline Garcia, seeded at 32.

Fellow Brit Laura Robson returned from injury last week and will start her first Grand Slam since last year’s Australian Open against Russian Evgeniya Rodina, ranked 101 in the world.

Serena Williams, number one seed in the women’s competition for the third consecutive year, will face Russia’s Margarita Gasparyan first.

Johanna Konta, who made it to the quarterfinals at Eastbourne earlier in the week, faces 2004 Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova.
