About the Tournament

The Masters is an official tournament on the PGA Tour, the Japan Golf Tour and the European Tour. The origins of the tournament date back to the 1930’s when the legendary amateur golfer, Bobby Jones, acquired a former plant nursery, and turned it into the famous Augusta National Golf Course. The first Augusta tournament (Masters) was held in 1934, becoming one of the biggest and most exciting tournaments in golfing history.

Today, the Masters is the only Major played at the same course every year. The Augusta National Course in Georgia USA is a par 72 with mix of long and short holes, rolling hills and difficult greens. The tournament consists of four rounds of 18 holes played from Thursday through to Sunday. The field for the masters is the smallest of all Majors with just 90 to 100 players. There are no qualifying tournaments for the Masters and the field is strictly invitational with the top 50 players on the World Golf Ranking qualifying as well as past champions.

Dates and Expected Players

The 2019 PGA Masters Tournament will get underway on the 11th of April and conclude on the 14th of April. Last year it was Patrick Reed from the United States who won the event. Since winners of the Masters automatically qualify for all future Majors, we can expect some big names to compete in 2019. Players expected to attend the event include:

  • Partrick Reed
  • Sergio Garcia
  • Danny Willett
  • Jordan Speith
  • Bubba Watson
  • Adam Scott
  • Phil Mickelson

Popular Golf Bets

While it may not seem like it, there are plenty of bets that can be placed on the Masters Tournament. The most popular wager is the tournament winner, which simply involves predicting the player who will win the tournament outright. Head to Head bets are also extremely popular where you can pick two players in the tournament to compete in a virtual one-on-one competition. Other bets include predicting the top 3 finishers, if a hole in one will be scored in the tournament, the total winning margin and if a playoff is needed.
