2019 Chinese Grand Prix

Jake Cooper - 20 Mar 2019

Since the conclusion of the 2018 Formula One season, motorsport fans have been waiting in anticipation for the action to restart. Fortunately, the wait is almost over, as the Australian Grand Prix opens the curtains for what is set to be the most exciting season yet. Last year we saw the dominance of Mercedes as Lewis Hamilton clinched yet another title. Could this be the year that Ferrari get their revenge?

What to Expect in Shanghai

After the Australian Grand Prix, the action then moves to Bahrain on the 31st of March. However, the most interesting race in this early part of the season will be the Chinese Grand Prix. Held at the Shanghai International Circuit, the Chinese Grand Prix is traditionally a tipping point in the season where drivers have settled into their cars and the all the bugs have been worked out. The race separates the elite from the rest of the pack.

Built in 2004, the Shanghai circuit was the most expensive F1 track ever built. It was subsequently surpassed by the Abu Dhabi track in 2009. The track was designed by Herman Tilke, and features one of the trickiest cornering combinations on the F1 calendar. It is a technically challenging race that requires superior breaking and handling from the cards.

To date, Lewis Hamilton holds the record for the most wins in China. Driving for Mercedes, Hamilton has racked up 5 wins, 3 more than any of his rivals. Last year it was the unlikely Australian Daniel Riccardo who took the honours.

The Best F1 Betting Action

Betting on Formula One is a great way to win big no matter what wager you are placing. If you are keen to bet on the Chinese Grand Prix, the main race will take place on the 14th of April. The lap rounds for pole position will take place the day before. This is where you can start your betting by predicting which driver will set the fastest lap and take pole position in the race.

For the main race, the most popular bet is the race winner. This is the winning driver who will take the chequered flag. You also have the option of predicting the winning constructor such as Mercedes or Ferrari.

If you know a bit more about the sport and the track, you can also predict which driver will set the fastest lap in the main race. Other betting options include predicting if the safety car will be used and the top 3 placings.
