Gallagher Premiership Rugby Final 2019

Jake Cooper - 23 May 2019

Premiership Rugby is the top division of Union Rugby in England. Known as the Gallagher Premiership for sponsorship reasons, the domestic league competition offers up plenty of action and drama for sports fans and betting enthusiasts. The 2018/2019 Premiership Rugby season comes to it’s conclusion on the 1st of June when the two top teams meet in the Premiership final.

About Premiership Rugby

While English domestic league Rugby has been around since the 1970’s, the Premiership format began in 1987 and developed into the competition we known today. It was only in the 1996/97 season that the league turned professional, with clubs able to attract wealthy benefactors.

Today the Premiership consists of 12 teams who each play their 11 opponents once at home, and once away. The regular season kicks off in September and concludes in May the following year. For each of the 22 matches played, teams earn points for a win or a draw. At the end of the season, the top 4 teams play in the semi-finals and on to the final.

Semi-final Teams

At the end of the 2018/2019 regular season Exeter Chiefs topped the Premiership log with 86 points. Saracens placed second, with Gloucester in third, and Northampton Saints in fourth. The four teams will play in the semi-finals on the 25th of May to determine who goes through to the final. In the first match of the day, Saracens will take on Gloucester at Allianz Park. Later in the day, Exeter Chiefs will take on Northampton Saints at Sandy Park in Exeter.

Details for the Final

The 2019 Gallagher Premiership Rugby final will take place on the 1st of June. The venue for the game will be the famous Twickenham stadium. Last year, Saracens played Exeter Chiefs in the final in front of a packed stadium. On the day it was Saracens who triumphed, defeating Exeter by 23 points to 10. According to the bookmakers, Saracens are the favourites to win with odds of 1.73, while Exeter are second favourites with odds of 2.62.

If you are keen on betting on the final, bookmakers will be offering outright and prop bets. As well as predicting the outright winner, bets can be placed on the highest scoring half, total number of tries scored, total points odd/even, race to 10 points and if the first try will be converted.
