NBA Match Preview – Dallas Mavericks Vs LA Lakers

Dean Riley - 14 Dec 2021

About to play the Dallas Mavericks on Dec. 15, the LA Lakers have much to fix and much to celebrate.  2021 has been a mixed bag for LeBron James and the NBA team so far and they’ll undoubtedly be hoping to turn the ship completely around when they take on the Mavericks on Wednesday.

For Dallas, it’s bound to be a story of trying to continue the solid performance we saw against the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night. Still – they’ll be hard pressed to beat the commanding run that saw the Lakers seal their second straight basketball victory at the Staples Center when they took on the visiting Orlando Magic on the day.

Below is our take on what each squad will want to focus on ahead of the big Dec. 15 meet.

Recent Takeaways

For LeBron James, Monday night’s game against the Orlando Magic saw the legend propel his team towards a stunning victory. James secured a triple-double powered by 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Previously in doubt following health issues, his recent run has him squarely back in contention.

Dallas, meanwhile, are bound to enter the NBA game high on confidence and adrenaline following their big win against the Charlotte Hornets. Playing a monster of a game had been Kristaps Porzingis, who absolutely shone with 24 points, 13 rebounds, and five blocks for leading his team to the win.

Porzingis will be working hard to continue his solid form against the Purple and Gold on Wednesday.

All Eyes On LeBron James

For LA fans, all eyes will be fixed on LeBron James.

Across his last 8 basketball games, the 36-year-old has scored 30 points or more on average. This has made of him once again the key player fans have become accustomed to seeing contributing to the sheer brilliance of the LA Lakers.

Against the Mavs, James will want to continue driving towards the rim and making tough fadeaways. These will be crucial for the game if LA is going to reign victorious over their opponents. James will be a key deflator of the likes of Porzingis and Reggie Bullock, who are making defending the paint count for Dallas this season.

For the Mavs, the current NBA campaign has been a decent one so far – and very much owing to the talents of Porzingis, who hails from Latvia. Dallas currently holds a 14-13 record and is perched in seventh position in the West.

A win against LA will mean a massive boost for the Mavs. uses cookies to give the best experience possible. Please read our Cookie Policy for more details
